District Wide Meter Replacement Program
Due to aging infrastructure, and customer requests for newer meter features such as real-time leak detection, the District is implementing a District-wide meter replacement program. The District will be replacing its existing water meters with Sensus meters. These new meters will provide customers with real-time information about their water usage, allow customers to receive leak alerts, and even view estimated future bills based on current usage.
New Infrastructure
The District has installed the infrastructure necessary to remotely read all of the District's new water meters that will be replacing the old meters which are reaching their life span. You may see three towers installed throughout the District. These towers fully comply with the FCC standards and guidelines for environmental exposure to radio frequencies (RF). RF energy produced by smart meters is comparable to cellular phone devices, wireless baby monitors, television broadcasts, garage door openers, and WIFI networks.
New Meters
Due to aging infrastructure, and customer requests for newer meter features such as real-time leak detections, the District has been replacing all District water meters with smart meters. Meter installations began in November 2020 and will continue through early 2024. Customers will be notified when their meter is scheduled to be replaced and what to expect during that process. Customers will also be notified when usage, leak alerts, and estimated bills will be available to view.
