District promotes Recycling and Water Conservation by Inviting Mr. Eco to Perform at Local Schools
This February, PPHCSD will be promoting recycling and water conservation by sponsoring Mr. Eco, a popular YouTube conservationist, to visit local schools including Phelan Elementary and The Heritage School. Mr. Eco has made a number of popular YouTube videos promoting recycling and conservation and has created a school outreach program that visits hundreds of schools all over the country promoting his program. Some of his YouTube videos include "Save Some for the Fishes", "Recycle Robot", and "Litterbug". Mr. Eco has visited our local schools for the past two years and is always well received by students and teachers alike. The kids say he is funny and that they really like his music.

October 2018 marked the annual celebration of Phelan Phamily Phun Days. This exciting community event was held at the Phelan Community Park and was attended by hundreds of people. The event featured a parade, car show, horse events, Fear Farm Hollows, vendors, a petting zoo, pancake breakfast, antique tractors, a pumpkin patch, dog sports, and a blood drive. The District's very own water mascot Precious came out to wave to the crowds during the parade and the District had a booth where staff gave out information on water conservation, recycling, and parks. District staff also gave out water conservation devices, sports equipment, and recycling goodies. Fifteen lucky attendees won the District's raffle and received their choice of sports equipment, California native gardening books, watering wands, counter top composter, or hose timer.
