Alex Brandon was elected to the Board of Directors in November of 2011 and re-elected in November of 2015, garnering the most number of votes cast in each election. He served as Vice President in 2013 and President in 2014. He had been a member of the original feasibility committee going back to 2004.
Previous appointed and elected service included three city commissions and the Rosemead (CA) School Board. He has already represented PPHCSD as a member of the Board of Directors for the Association of San Bernardino County Special Districts, a member of the Board of Directors for the Association of California Water Agencies’ Joint Powers Insurance Authority (ACWA-JPIA), and is a member of the California Parks and Recreation Society. 2015 brought an appointment to the California Special Districts Association’s (CSDA) Election & Bylaws Committee after already earning the same organization’s recognition for Distinction in Special District Governance. For 2016 Alex was invited to also serve on the CSDA’s Professional Development Committee.
Director Brandon served as CEO of the Phelan Chamber of Commerce from July of 2008 to October of 2015, after being a board member and Vice President from 2002-2008. He is a Past Exalted Ruler in the B. P. O. Elks and a Past Commander of the Sons of the American Legion. His volunteerism continues as Past President of the Tri-Community Kiwanis Club, Vice Chair and Chief of Chaplains for the US Conference of Chaplains, National Member-At-Large in Sons of AMVETS, Past Chaplain and Charter President of the Tri- Community VFW Men’s Auxiliary, Life Member of the DAV Auxiliary, member of Knights of Pythias, a member of both the Phelan and Piñon Hills senior groups, Friends of the Phelan Memorial Library and a member and Past Director of the Piñon Hills Chamber of Commerce.
Rev. Dr. Brandon has many educational and pastoral distinctions to his credit. He is a Board Certified Pastoral Counselor in the American Association of Christian Counselors since 2007, former Pastor of Phelan Bible Fellowship, former State Director for the World Council of Independent Christian Churches and, on July 16, 2011, was elected, elevated and consecrated as First Presiding Bishop of the Old Baptist Union in America. His highest earned degree is a Doctor of Psychology (Biblical Model) from the Institute of Theology and Christian Therapy, Tulare, Texas.
In his professional career he is mostly retired from, Alex obtained the highest credential of FMP® (Foodservice Management Professional) that the National Restaurant Association Education Foundation awards. He remains a member of the IAFP (International Association for Food Protection), and consults as the “HACCP Dr.”
Alex was Co-Founder of Tanya’s Adoption Network 4 Young Animals (T.A.N.Y.A.’s, Inc.) in Phelan where he lived from 2001 - 2014, and currently resides in Piñon Hills. He is the proud father of his son - Sean.
